Sandy Alcantara and Max Fried squared off in Game Five on Saturday and the two aces did not disappoint in what quickly turned into a pitchers duel. With the two pitchers locked in a duel, it was Xander Bogarts who played hero connecting on a two-run blast in the seventh that led Vancouver to a 2-1 win, and put them one game away from the World Series.
The series returns to Kansas City for Game 6 on Monday with the league's top team on the brink.
Meanwhile in Redondo Beach, Julio Rodriguez's big fielding error eventually led to a two-run eighth for the Sharkz and helped put the game out of reach in the Sharkz' 5-1 win on Saturday. The victory evens the series at two games with the big Game 5 scheduled for Sunday.
